Oracle9i DBA Fundamentals II - 5 days

This course is designed for Network Administrators, Database Administrators, Technical Support Analysts and System Administrators and gives delegates a firm foundation in fundamental database administration tasks, loading and transporting for databases and the utilities used to perform these activities. The course also includes an introduction to networking concepts and configuration parameters and how to solve common network problems. Delegates will configure network parameters so that database clients and tools can communicate with the Oracle database server. This course addresses backup and recovery techniques and examines various backup, failure, restore and recovery scenarios. Delegates examine backup methodologies based on business requirements in a mission critical enterprise. Delegates use multiple strategies and Oracle Recovery Manager to perform backups and restore and recovery operations. Two interactive workshops are included in this course to provide delegates with the opportunity to walk through numerous real-world networking, backup and recovery case studies.

Certification: For students studying towards Oracle9i Database Administrator certification, this course provides the core knowledge for exam 1Z0-033 (Oracle9i: DBA Fundamentals II).

Delegates must have an understanding of basic operating system commands (eg move, copy, delete files). Delegates must also have attended course O9iDBAI (Oracle9i: DBA Fundamentals I).

This course is intended for Network Administrators, Database Administrators, System Administrators, Application Developers, MIS Managers and Technical Support Personnel.

Certification: For students studying towards Oracle8i DBA certification this course provides the core knowledge for exam 1Z1-024 (Enterprise DBA – Part 2 -Performance Tuning).

Delegates should have attended DBA1A (Enterprise DBA – Part 1 – Architecture and Administration). They would also benefit from having Oracle7, Oracle8 or Oracle8i database administration experience and a thorough knowledge of Oracle architecture. Experience with Oracle Performance Manager and Oracle Enterprise Manager would also be beneficial.

The course teaches delegates to use an administration tool to start-up and shutdown a database, create a database, manage file and database storage and manage users and their privileges. The course also teaches delegates to organise the database and to move data into and between databases under different environments.

Certification: For students studying towards Oracle9i Database Administrator certification, this course provides the core knowledge for exam 1Z0-031 (Oracle9i: DBA Fundamentals I).

Delegates must have attended course SQLINT (Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL). An understanding of stored procedures, functions and packages concepts would be beneficial.
