HACMP System Administration III: Problem Determination & Recovery - 5 days

This course is designed for System Administrators. It provides delegates with the skills to monitor, analyse and tune AIX subsystems for optimal performance including concepts, strategy and implementation of the AIX Workload Manager.

Delegates should be experienced System Administrators and should have previously attended AU14GB (AIX System Administration I: Implementation) and AU16GB (AIX System Administration II: Problem Determination).

HACMP System Administration I: Implementation - 5 days

This course is designed for delegates who will be installing and configuring an HACMP cluster on AIX version 4 using HACMP version 4.3. This course contains a high quantity of practical work undertaken in small workgroups.

Delegates will learn how to:
Undertand the concepts of High Availbility
Design and plan a highly available cluster
Implement HACMP in all modes of operation
Perform basic cluster customisation and maintenance

Delegates should a solid understanding of IBM RS/6000 hardware, AIX operating system management, AIX TCP/IP communications, the Logical Volume Manager (LVM) concepts and configuration, disk subsystems and SNMP concepts. Delegates should also be able to perform AIX system problem diagnostics and be able to suggest possible corrective actions. The course is intended for delegates who already have extensive technical experience on AIX and should ideally be qualified as an IBM Certified Specialist: AIX Support.

HACMP System Administration II: Maintenance & Migration - 5 days

This course covers advanced system monitoring and maintenance for production workloads, and migration to HACMP/ES ­the fast track to System Expert certification.

Delegates will learn how to:

Determine the configuration of a cluster.
Determine the status of the cluster
Monitor an active cluster with standard AIX commands and HACMP utilities
Use HACMP’s SNMP based tools (for Tivoli NetView).
Migration from one version of HACMP to another
Migration from HACMP to HACMP/ES
Perform system administration in a highly available cluster
Make configuration and customization changes for HACMP

Students must have one years commercial HACMP system administration and networking experience.
