Tivoli Storage Manager Implementation for UNIX Course Outline
This course is designed to give delegates the necessary skills to implement Tivoli Storage Manager across the enterprise.

Delegates will be shown how to implement automatic policy-driven backup, restore, archive and retrieval functions at both the Tivoli Storage Manager server and client workstations. The course also provides delegates with the skills to use the Tivoli Storage Manager administrative interfaces to allow them to manage the Tivoli Storage Manager server, database, recovery log, storage pools and client policies.

The skills learnt on this course apply to all Tivoli Storage Manager client and server platforms.

Delegates will learn how to:
Describe the Tivoli Storage Manager components and related products Install, customise and implement Tivoli Storage Manager
Manage the Tivoli Storage Manager server
Manage the Tivoli Storage Manager server, database and recovery log to perform backup and archive operations
Perform administrator functions such as managing the Tivoli Storage Manager server, database, recovery log, storage pools, policies and schedules
Perform backup-archive client functions such as backup, restore, archive and retrieve

Before attending this course, delegates should have a good understanding of the role of a systems administrator and have worked in a systems support environment. Knowledge of system administration tasks on UNIX or Microsoft Windows NT systems is also desirable.
