Windows 2000 Managing A Network Environment Course Outline
Windows 2000: Managing a Network Environment teaches you how to install, configure and manage the components that make up a Windows 2000 network. For example, you’re going to learn how to install, configure, and maintain DNS, DHCP, WINS, RAS, Web, and FTP servers. You’re also going to learn how to create and work with Active Directory objects and how to manage workstation settings and application deployment with Group Policy. Along the way, you’ll also learn how to manage and troubleshoot your network through various utilities.

Performance-Based Objectives

Install and configure the DHCP Server service and DHCP clients, as well as manage DHCP.
Install and configure the DNS Server service, and manage and troubleshoot DNS.
Work with and manage Active Directory objects, and organize and manage file and print
resources.
Implement Active Directory security, including access control and authority delegation.
Use Group Policies to manage workstation settings, and implement security and workstation maintenance.
Use Group Policies to assign, publish, and manage applications.
Manage and troubleshoot Active Directory Replication.
Install and configure Remote Access Service (RAS) servers and clients, and work with Virtual Private Networking (VPN).
Configure RAS security and manage remote access.
Configure Internet Connection Sharing, and configure and manage the Internet Connection Server.

We designed Windows 2000: Managing a Network Environment to prepare you to manage the various aspects of a Windows 2000 network. In addition, this course prepares you for Microsoft Certified System Engineer exam 70-218, Managing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network.

To prepare for this course, you should complete PTR’s, Windows 2000: Operating System & Networking Essentials and Windows 2000: Professional & Server Support course, or equivalent knowledge.
